Company Modern Slavery Statement

Australian Modern Slavery Act 2018

As a SME trading below the Australian consolidated $100m threshold, we are not required to make a formal statement. However, we do recognise that many of our clients will be seeking reassurance from us about our compliance with the requirements of the Modern Slavery Act 2018.

Modern slavery is a crime and a violation of fundamental human rights. It takes various forms, such as slavery, servitude, forced or compulsory labour, and human trafficking. All of which, have in common the deprivation of a person’s liberty by another in order to exploit them for personal or commercial gain. We are committed to improving and monitoring our practices to combat slavery and human trafficking.

Organisational structure

We are a provider of horticultural services to various types of organisations in Queensland. We operate a model that also includes the utilisation of an external consultant in our business. We have one Director in our business and our main services are provided by a valued team operating under the direction of the Director and General Manager. A good, and constantly evolving organisational culture is evident within our business. We have full-time staff only, and a Fair Work approved Single Enterprise Agreement (SEA) is in operation. The Director and an external consultant oversee the operation of the SEA. Remuneration is awarded in accordance with the SEA, or at higher levels.

Our supply chains

Our supply chains include sub-contractors, each of whom have their own independent business, professional services firms (accountancy and insurance brokers), suppliers of equipment and consumables in connection with our trade, all of which are located in Queensland. These are mostly family owned businesses with Bunnings, Office Works and Caltex/Ampol being the main exceptions. We are undertake the process of conducting a risk assessment of our suppliers.

Our commitment to combating slavery and human trafficking

We believe that there are relatively few risks in our current supply chains, or within our business. One of the reasons for this is because we are guided by our overall approach to doing business which requires high standards of honesty and integrity from our team. GreenSpaces Horticultural Services Pty Ltd., is an equal opportunities employer.

Due diligence processes for slavery and human trafficking

As part of our initiative to identify and mitigate risk we conduct risk assessments and review them on an annual basis.

Management have agreed that our Director has lead responsibility for our work in this area. Suppliers are asked to supply copies of their Modern Slavery Statements in relation to the 2017 Act. Should suspicion be aroused that a supplier is in contravention of the said act, concerns will be raised with the supplier and all purchasing shall cease until such time as the director and management of GreenSpaces Horticultural Services Pty Ltd., are confident that good ethical practices are being followed.
